Built on the belief that MPF education should be calm, clear, and yours to keep
We are a small, independent course provider based in Kowloon Bay. Everything we do is written for people in the middle of their working lives who want to understand what is happening with their retirement funds.
Back to HomeHow Bauhinia Ledger came to be
Bauhinia Ledger was founded in 2019 by a small group of financial educators who had spent the previous decade running seminars at firms across Hong Kong. The observation that kept coming up, across industries and income levels, was straightforward: most professionals in their 40s had been paying into MPF since their first job and had very little idea what was happening with that money.
This was not through any fault of their own. The MPF system is not difficult, but it is rarely explained well. Annual statements are dense. Fund names are generic. The Employee Choice Arrangement, which gives members genuine flexibility, goes largely unused because its mechanics are unclear. The result is that a fund most people will rely on at some point in their lives remains largely a mystery to them.
We built Bauhinia Ledger to address that gap specifically. Not as a financial advisory firm — we do not give regulated advice or recommend products — but as an education provider whose sole purpose is to give working professionals the knowledge to make their own considered decisions about their MPF.
The name comes from the bauhinia, the flower on Hong Kong's flag, paired with the ledger — a record, a document, something you maintain over time. That is what good MPF understanding looks like: something tended, revisited, and adjusted as your circumstances change.
Our Mission
To give mid-career professionals in Hong Kong the understanding they need to engage thoughtfully with their MPF — without jargon, without pressure, and without product recommendations.

The People Behind the Courses
A small team with backgrounds in financial education, adult learning, and Hong Kong pension policy.
Wesley Lau
Founder & Lead Educator
Spent twelve years teaching financial literacy at universities and corporate programmes across Hong Kong before founding Bauhinia Ledger. Holds a postgraduate qualification in adult education from HKU.
Miranda Ho
Curriculum Lead
Developed the Foundations and Consolidation curricula. Previously worked in pension administration, which gave her a detailed understanding of how MPF records are maintained and where gaps tend to appear.
Daniel Tang
Programme Facilitator
Leads the group reflection calls in the Consolidation Workshop and Lifetime Strategy Programme. His approach is to ask the questions that help participants articulate their own priorities, rather than supplying answers.
How We Maintain Quality
These are the standards we hold ourselves to, reviewed each year whether or not anyone is watching.
Annual Curriculum Review
MPF regulations and fund options change. We review all course content annually against current MPFA guidelines and update materials whenever the rules shift.
No Product Affiliation
We receive no fees, referrals, or introductions from any MPF scheme operator or fund house. Our revenue comes entirely from course enrolments.
Facilitator Standards
Anyone leading a live session holds a relevant qualification in adult education, financial literacy, or pension administration. We do not use generalist presenters.
Data Handling
Participant data is held securely, used only for course administration and communications, and never shared with third parties for marketing.
Participant Feedback Loop
Every cohort completes an end-of-course review. We read all responses and use them directly in the next curriculum revision cycle.
Regulatory Awareness
We operate within the scope of educational services and are careful not to stray into regulated financial advice. Where a question falls outside that boundary, we say so clearly.
MPF literacy for the working professional
Hong Kong's Mandatory Provident Fund has been in operation since 2000. Most people who joined the workforce in the years immediately after its launch are now in their forties — and many have spent two and a half decades paying into a system they understand only in outline.
Bauhinia Ledger was built for this cohort. Our courses address the questions that come up when people finally sit down with their MPF statements: what the fund categories mean in practice, whether the fees they are paying are typical, how consolidation works under the Employee Choice Arrangement, and how MPF might interact with other savings and property as retirement approaches.
We are based in Kowloon Bay and serve participants across Hong Kong. All courses are delivered in English. Our approach is unhurried — these are decisions worth taking time over — and our facilitation team brings direct experience of the pension education field rather than generalist presentation skills.
If you are in the middle of your working life and find your MPF position unclear, our courses exist to give you the understanding you need to engage with it thoughtfully.
